HISTORY OF AUSTRALIAN POPULAR CULTURE

WHAT IS ANIMATION?

IN AUSTRALIA

Animation is an aspect of Australian popular culture that includes works made in a variety of methods and styles. Originally, animation was created using character design, as well as, drawing each movement frame-by-frame (24 frames each worth a one second motion). Today, there are still designers who draw characters, however, they generally make use of digital processes which still allow them to incorporate traditional techniques such as watercolour and oils. Animated films allow the audience to use their own imagination and enter into an unrealistic world based on visual art forms.
